Portugal Start Euro 2024 With Impressive Win

Portugal began their Euro 2024 campaign with a dominant 3-1 victory over Czech Republic in Leipzig on Tuesday.

The reigning European champions were in complete control from the start, taking the lead through Goncalo Ramos in the 17th minute.

Portugal doubled their lead just before the break when Diogo Jota tapped home from close range.

Czech Republic pulled a goal back through Patrik Schick early in the second half, but Portugal restored their two-goal advantage through Bruno Fernandes with 20 minutes remaining.

Portugal were the only team to win all 10 of their games in the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign and they continued that form into the tournament itself.

They also scored more goals than any other team in qualifying, and they will be confident of going deep into the competition this summer.

Portugal will now face Spain in their next match on Saturday, while Czech Republic will take on Switzerland.
